Standing around drunk on a street corner waiting for your bus at 3am has its own charm.
I've been looking for a good book to read for the past few weeks (thx to those who recommended me some), but nothing so far has really kicked me in the nuts. That was until last night, some girl riding her bike stopped to ask for a quarter. What caught me though was the book she had in her front basket. So naturally I plucked it out and asked her about it. She told me to read the back - its worth it, she'll wait.
It features a professor Philip Philippovich Preobrazhensky (his name is derived from the Russian word for "transfiguration") who implants human testicles and pituitary gland into a stray dog named Sharik. Sharik then proceeds to become more and more human as time passes, picks himself the name Polygraph Polygraphovich Sharikov, makes himself a career with the "Moscow Cleansing Department responsible for eliminating vagrant quadrupeds (cats, etc.)", and turns the life in the professor's house into a nightmare until the professor reverses the procedure.
I think I found my new book.
I said thanks, and told her I didn't have any change.
A copy of the text can be found here.
